Constable Russell Baker
Serve and protect

If you walk down Charlotte Street in Sydney, Nova Scotia, you’ll notice that almost everyone says hello. For veteran police officers, like Russell Baker, that makes it a great place to work. And when Russell’s out on the beat he uses xwave’s OnPatrol™ service on his BlackBerry® handheld to securely access police and vehicle databases, and send and receive messages. If you’re in Sydney, say hello to Russell, and watch those rolling stops.
We understand the needs of our business customers and work hard to provide the level of service that has earned us their confidence. Now, with our larger pool of resources and a larger market, we have even greater opportunities to grow, bringing our broad range of information and communications technology (ICT) services to the many thousands of businesses in our service area.

Solutions for business

Improving quality and speed
In 2007, we’re undertaking several important initiatives to improve the quality and speed of our service. For example, we’re improving the way we process inquiries and orders so that, wherever possible, issues are resolved as soon as they are registered and we’re increasing the speed of our Internet installations for business customers. In 2006, we introduced on-line ordering for many of our products and services. This capability allows customers the convenience of getting what they want, when they want it, with the peace of mind of knowing their information is secure.

Big solutions, big opportunities
Over the years, we have forged strong relationships with our business customers. By working as partners, we are using our Internet protocol expertise to create ICT solutions that are providing them with a competitive advantage, and us with significant new revenue opportunities.

Together with our information technology division, xwave, we are building industry-specific solutions for health care, justice and public safety, defence and aerospace, government, and contact centres. OnPatrol service, for example, is a policing solution that uses the RIM BlackBerry to provide on-foot officers with crucial anywhere, anytime access to vital data they need to protect the community. The work we have been doing in the health care sector with our Clinical Management System resulted
in xwave being named The 2006 Company of the Year by the Canadian Healthcare Information Technology Trade Association and Canada’s Health Infomatics Association.

Bell Nordiq is also working closely with its largest customers. In 2006, they signed a six year contract to supply telecommunications to the Société Énergique de la Baie-James and continue to work closely with the Cree and Jamesians in northern Quebec on other telecommunications projects.

Expanding in Quebec and Ontario
We plan to build on these successes, accelerating the development of business solutions and establishing partnerships with other leading providers. Early in 2007, we launched a new sales force focused on our business market in Quebec and Ontario, where we believe there
is substantial opportunity for growth. This new sales force will increase sales coverage in these provinces by up to 60 per cent, advancing our goal of reaching and serving a broader base of customers.
