Aliant Telecom announces new digital channels

Saint John, NB / Halifax, NS -- Aliant Telecom announced the addition of 33 new digital specialty channels plus eight new pay-per-view channels to its VibeVision lineup. VibeVision, Aliant Telecom’s digital interactive television service, now delivers more than 200 digital video and audio channel selections to its customers – with the added benefit of being able to surf the Internet, and send and receive email from the television set.

“The new selection contains a wide range of channels, with something for everyone,” said Kenyon Shoebridge, Portfolio Manager, Aliant Telecom Broadband Services. “The addition of these channels is part of Aliant Telecom’s commitment to provide our customers with the what they want, when and how they want it. Our customers want to decide which channels are of interest to them, so we are giving them free previews of this new lineup for three months and then will offer very attractive a la carte options for packages.”

The new channels launch December 15 and will be available free to all VibeVision customers until March 15, 2002, after which they will be packaged to give Aliant Telecom’s customers the full range of choices they are looking for in their entertainment experience.

“It really is about getting more from your television set – whether it is sports, movies, lifestyle or children’s programming,” said Shoebridge. “Pre-scheduled network upgrades postponed our launch of these channels. Now VibeVision customers have a greater entertainment selection, multiple television capability and Internet access.”

VibeVision is the only interactive digital service of its kind available in the market today, offering high-quality digital television and music channels, Web browsing, e-mail, directory listings and a range of news, weather and sports, all accessible through an interactive television guide. VibeVision is available in select areas of Saint John and Moncton in New Brunswick. In Nova Scotia, VibeVision is available in select areas of Peninsula Halifax, Rockingham, Woodlawn and soon will be available in Sackville and Bedford.
