MTT Aliant Telecom Expresses Regret for Error

Halifax, Nova Scotia - MTT Aliant Telecom apologized again today for the printing error in the Halifax Regional Municipality telephone directory, and made a number of commitments to both mitigate the issue, and to express goodwill to the community of Sackville. The heading on the Sackville white pages (pages 503-548) was incorrectly printed as “Prospect Road.”

“We want to assure the people of Sackville that their white page listings are full and accurate in the book, despite the incorrect heading,” said Kathryn London-Penny, Public Affairs Manager, Aliant Telecom. “And, over the past week, we have reviewed a number of actions we could take to make amends for our error.”

Aliant Telecom will be waiving all directory assistance charges to customers seeking phone numbers in Sackville beginning on May 1, 2002.

This week the company will launch an educational ad campaign on local radio stations to let customers know of the misprint and to remind them to use the insert already provided by the company to mark page 503 as the beginning of the Sackville listings. As for business customers listed in the Sackville section, there is a 50 percent rebate for advertising costs in the white pages.

In addition, the company has pledged a $20,000 donation to the Sackville Rivers Association. “We know how important the Sackville River is to the community – and we chose an organization to help that really has made a difference and contributes to the quality of life in the community,” she said.
