Aliant Mobility invests $2.2 million investment in new digital wireless sites in Nova Scotia
Halifax, NS – Aliant Mobility announced today the completion of five digital wireless sites to complete the digital corridors from Antigonish to New Glasgow and Port Hawkesbury to Sydney, further boosting the digital networks in those regions.
The new Antigonish site covers the town of Antigonish and is the last of five sites on the corridor from Antigonish to New Glasgow. The Port Hawkesbury to Sydney digital corridor has been completed with the addition of sites in Whycocomagh, St. Columba, Rear Big Hill and Seal Island.
“These sites are an important part of Aliant’s ongoing investment in our digital wireless network throughout Atlantic Canada,” says Chuck Hartlen, Vice-President, Aliant Mobility. “The new facilities will extend access and bring enhanced functionality to our customers.”
Aliant is involved in a year-long expansion program of its digital wireless network. The company has committed to more than 75 new digital sites across Atlantic Canada, an investment of more than $60 million. According to Hartlen, with this most recent activity, Aliant now reaches 63% of the Atlantic Canadian population with digital wireless service.
Aliant Mobility has the most extensive digital coverage in the Atlantic region. “We’re dedicated to an aggressive expansion of our digital coverage, so more of our customers can enjoy the many benefits that come with this service. Digital customers will enjoy longer battery life, enhanced privacy, better voice clarity and they can even access the Internet,” said Hartlen.
Leading edge technology, combined with a strong commitment to the people of the Atlantic Region, have combined to make Aliant Mobility the leading provider of wireless services in the Atlantic Provinces, said Hartlen.
