Aliant launches Dial-up Accelerator – developed to increase speeds up to five times faster for dial-up Internet customers
Halifax, Nova Scotia, February 23, 2005 – Aliant, Atlantic Canada’s leading information and communications technology provider, today announced the launch of Dial-up Accelerator – an innovative solution that provides up to five times the speed of current consumer dial-up Internet to Atlantic Canadians. This new add-on service allows customers to enjoy the convenience of faster Internet surfing and e-mail as well as access to pop-up ad blocking services.
Dial-up Accelerator enables a faster Internet experience to Aliant dial-up customers through the use of sophisticated technologies such as compression, protocol optimization, image reduction and caching.

Aliant has partnered with Slipstream Data Inc. – a privately-owned, Canadian software development company – to bring this new service to dial Internet customers. Slipstream Data has partnered with over 900 other Internet service providers around the world bringing increased speed – regardless of network connection – to customers.
Dial-up Accelerator is $4.95 per month, however, the first month is offered free to new dial-up Internet customers. Other Aliant products and services include on-line security services such as Aliant Anti-Spyware, Anti-virus, Parental Control, Personal Firewall; Internet Call Manager and Webmail.
