Terry Tamminen named keynote speaker for ecoRevolution Conference in Moncton, NB on November 27, 2007
Moncton, New Brunswick – Aliant, presenting sponsor of ecoRevolution, and the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) today announced that Terry Tamminen will be the keynote speaker for the international symposium on business and the environment. Tamminen is an environmental advisor and author, most notably recognized for his work with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“Mr. Tamminen is an internationally acclaimed speaker and we can all learn from his experiences. He is truly an inspiration when it comes to doing the right thing for the environment,” said André Pelletier, the Chair of the GMCC. “His speech, The Five Keys to Success -- From Shakespeare to Schwarzenegger, is one that business leaders and all members of our community, won’t want to miss.”
Tamminen’s speech will focus on the secrets to success in life and business, based on his learning and experiences as a Shakespearian actor, member of Cabinet for Governor Schwarzenegger, and time spent in Nigeria, Australia, and the United States.
“Terry Tamminen is a passionate leader and influencer of change for the environment,” said Robyn Tingley, Aliant's vice president of Communications and Public Affairs. “His vision of sustainability is one we can all learn from as we work together to make a difference in our communities for future generations.”
Tamminen was recently featured in Time Magazine's Global Warming Survival Guide - 51 Things You Can Do. Item #23, entitled "Copy California", describes how he is criss-crossing the United States to create a de facto national climate plan out of individual efforts in the 50 states.
In April, 2007, Tamminen was named the Cullman Senior Climate Policy Fellow, New America Foundation. He currently travels throughout the United States and the world, lecturing and providing private consulting services to a variety of clients, including several Governors and Canadian Premiers on climate and energy policy.
ecoRevolution will be a full-day conference on Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Sessions will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Delta Beauséjour with Tamminen’s keynote address following at 7:00 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre. About ecoRevolution
Throughout history, business has faced the challenge of change. Sometimes the process has been gradual; often, more dramatic. In the18th Century, the Industrial Revolution radically changed how most businesses operated. In our own time, the Technological Revolution has required business to keep pace with rapidly accelerating changes in information technology.
The Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce is committed to helping businesses prepare for, and adapt to, the next wave of change - and that wave is almost upon us. We call it the ecoRevolution, and it signals the arrival of a time when business must learn to survive in partnership with the environment, to create both a healthy bottom line, and protect the long-term health of our planet.
On November 27, 2007, the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce will host a conference focused on encouraging companies to discover the competitive advantages of adopting sustainable business practices. Every business can do something to help lessen its environmental footprint and, in doing so, to reap tangible benefits.
ecoRevolution will bring together key industry leaders from Canada and the United States to share proactive environmental strategies and discuss innovations that respect and protect the environment and create new business opportunities — all the while improving their bottom line.
