Apple device - Set up email

We know you need to get up and running with your wireless device. This is normally supported through your cellular provider (example Bell Mobility) but if you’d like to use your Bell Aliant email on your Apple device, we can help you set it up.

You simply need to add our settings into the email application on your device. Once complete, tap the mail icon and your emails will automatically be downloaded.

To set up your email:

Note: These steps only need to be done once. Once they have been completed, your emails will automatically download to your Mail app on your mobile device.

  1. From the Apple device Home Screen tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Other.
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. Tap Add Account.
  7. Enter your the following information:

    • Name: Enter the name you want to display in your outgoing emails i.e. John Smith
    • Email: Your Bell Aliant email address i.e. [email protected]
    • Password: Your Bell Aliant email password
    • Description: Enter a description for your new account i.e. John’s Account
  8. Tap Next.
  9. Under the POP heading, enter your name, email address and description.
  10. In the Incoming Mail Server section enter your Bell Aliant email settings:
    • Host Name: Enter pop.bellaliant.net
    • User Name: Enter your Bell Aliant email address i.e. [email protected]
    • Password: If the field is empty, enter your Bell Aliant email password
  11. In the Outgoing Mail Server section enter your Bell Aliant email settings:
    • Host Name: Enter smtpa.bellaliant.net
    • User Name: If the field is empty enter your Bell Aliant email address i.e. [email protected]
    • Password: If the field is empty, enter your Bell Aliant email password
  12. Tap Next.
  13. The Email app will respond with a Verifying message.
  14. Tap Yes on the message box: Cannot Connect Using SSL. Do you want to try setting up your account without SSL?

    Note: It can take up to several minutes for the verification process to finish and the message box to appear. You may even get this message box twice. If you do, click on Yes again.

  15. If you get a message The SMTP server “smtpa.bellaliant.net” is not responding. Check your network connection ..." , Tap OK.
  16. On the New Account screen, tap Next
  17. Tap Save on the new message box: This account may not be able to send or receive emails. Are you sure you want to save?
  18. On the POP screen, tap Save
  19. On the Accounts screen locate and tap your new email account
  20. In the Account section, tap your email address.
  21. In the Outgoing Mail server section tap smtpa.bellaliant.net
  22. Server should be set to ON. If Server is turned OFF, Tap the Server ON/OFF switch
  23. Tap smtpa.bellaliant.net under the Primary Server
  24. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, confirm your settings.
    • Host Name: smtpa.bellaliant.net
    • Password: Your Bell Aliant email password
    • User Name: If empty enter your Bell Aliant email address i.e. [email protected]
    • Use SSL: OFF
    • Authentication: Password
    • Server Port: 2225
  25. Tap Done
  26. Tap Account.
  27. On the Account screen, tap Advanced.
  28. Scroll down to Incoming Setting and set Server Port to 110.
  29. Tap Account.
  30. Tap Done.
  31. Press your Home button to go back to your main screen.
  32. Tap the Mail app to send and receive your email.
